A series of conceptualized stamps unified by the theme of pasta placed in real life contexts. Many types of pasta are named after the shapes or objects they resemble. I thought it would be whimsical to pay homage to my Italian heritage by placing pasta in the environment that their names allude to. Farfalle is the exception to this case; the word actually means "butterfly", but in the U.S. we primarily refer to it as "bow tie" pasta so that's the approach I decided to go with.
The final designs
I looked to a couple artists to find inspiration for a style that wouldn't take itself too seriously since my starting concept was pretty
light-hearted. On the right are the sketches I started out with to figure out what context I would place the pasta in.
Above is the variety of compositions I considered for each stamp before narrowing them down to the finals.
