Bitch Squid Ink is a street-style fashion brand with a sustainable twist. The brand is designed for people that want to have
a good impact, but also like an edge in their clothing choice. You wear the sustainable clothes, they don’t wear you.
Rather than using chemical-based inks that are wasteful and harmful to the environment, Bitch Squid Ink’s clothes are dyed using natural sources like coffee grounds and other resources that also help lessen the food waste problem.
Bitch Squid Ink makes the choice to be kinder to the Earth so that you can help without sacrificing your personal style.

I looked to grunge fashion to form the visuals of my brand. Initially, there was going to be more contrast,
leaning into the deep black of squid ink. However, after researching and learning that squids have to be killed to obtain their ink,
that approach no longer made sense with the brand's values. Instead, the color palettes dimmed to better reflect dyes made from food scraps which would be the new concept for a brand using sustainable dyes.

The colors chosen for the branding and clothing merge the aesthetics related to edgy streetwear and tree-hugging sustainability.
The greens and orange-y browns call on the fields and grounds of the environment. The blue ties into the ocean visuals that the namesake and accompanying characters occupy. The colors are a blend of desaturated yet statement colors so the wearers can stand out as much or as little as they want, depending on how the clothing is styled.
The original squid, sea urchin, jellyfish, and eel are the basis of assets to draw from for Bitch Squid Ink. Patterns inspired by these sea creatures are also featured on the apparel.
